Thorntons' Treeland

Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Vancouver, Washington · Clark County

A big family tree farm in north Vancouver, a short drive from downtown Portland, with tens of thousands of tagged trees, free hayrides, a petting zoo and an old barn stocked with wreaths, crafts and free coffee and cocoa.

Book a timed entry online first; the ticket price goes toward your tree. In the fields, signs mark each variety and white tags show the price, so cut only tagged trees. Handsaws wait at saw stations around the farm, and carts are there to haul your tree back to the barn, where staff trim the base flat and shake out loose needles for free. Netting costs a few dollars and twine is free.

The hayride is free, and the petting zoo behind the barn takes quarters for feed. Dogs on a leash are welcome in the fields but not near the animal pens or inside the barn. A s'mores pit, tree maze and play area keep kids busy while you shop.
