Meert Tree Farm
Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Festus, Missouri · Jefferson County
A family tree farm in Festus, started in Oakville in 1963, with cut-your-own Scotch pine, white pine and Norway spruce, pre-cut Fraser fir up to 14 feet and live trees for planting.
You get a handsaw at arrival, ride the covered wagon out to the fields on weekends and opening day, and mark your tree with one half of a two-part tag. Bring the other half to the checkout in the store, and staff will shake out loose needles, net the tree and bring it to the exit.
Pre-cut Fraser and Fraser-balsam firs are sold for anyone who wants a fir, and balled-and-burlapped white pine and Norway spruce can be planted after the holidays. Kids can ride a free train around the farm on weekends, the barn concession sells hot dogs and hot cocoa, and the Christmas shop carries handmade decorations. Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome. In fall the farm runs a pumpkin patch.
