A young family-run choose-and-cut farm in Powell, on the north side of Knox County, planted on former cattle land and now drawing hundreds of families on opening weekend.
Walk the rows, pick a tree and cut it yourself, with staff on hand to help and to trim the base so the tree fits under your ceiling. The farm buys young trees from growers and plants them on the property, so the selection is still growing.
Opening day gets busy, and the season is short, ending in mid-December. After closing, the owners have taken appointments by phone while trees last. Details such as species and prices are not published online, so plan to ask at the farm.
