Camp's Christmas Forest
Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Sweetwater, Tennessee · Monroe County
A long-running family tree farm in the Sweetwater Valley, about an hour southwest of Knoxville, with a wide mix of pines, spruces, firs and cypresses and a single flat price for any tree you cut.
Visitors are directed to one of two field areas, at Lee's Chapel Road or the little farmhouse on Kile Road. Saws wait at the baler stations scattered around the farm; you cut your own tree, haul it to the baler yourself and pay there, then return the saw. Very large trees are too big for the baler, so a truck and some rope or straps help.
The fields hold white, Scotch and Virginia pine, Norway and white spruce, Canaan, Douglas and concolor fir, and Leyland and Arizona cypress. Bring cash or a check, since cards are not taken, and dress for the weather and the farm's terrain. Parking is limited, so expect a line at opening; it usually eases an hour or two after the gates open.
