Sandy Hollar Farms
Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Leicester, North Carolina · Buncombe County
A family farm in the Sandy Mush Valley northwest of Asheville and the only choose-and-cut farm in Buncombe County, with wagon rides through the fields, farm animals and a Christmas shop stocked with homemade goods.
Pick a tree from a wide range of sizes in the field, then cut it yourself with a farm saw or ask the crew to do it for you. Your tree is baled before it goes on the car.
Wagon rides carry visitors around the farm, where goats, llamas and chickens are part of the scenery. The Christmas shop sells ornaments and wool scarves and hats made on the farm, along with fresh Fraser fir wreaths and garland. Opening dates are announced on the farm's website each fall, so check there before driving out to the valley.
