Wolfe's Pine Valley Farms

A large family tree farm near Sykesville, planted in 1977 and spread over about 110 acres, with six kinds of fir to cut, including Nordmann and Korean fir that few farms around Baltimore grow.
Hand saws and carts are waiting at the farm, and the tag on each tree shows its price by height, with tax already included. Only tagged trees are for sale. Shaking, baling and drilling for a pin stand are free, and twine sits next to the balers.
On weekdays staff can cut a tree for anyone physically unable to, and a fresh-cut lot by the building suits those who would rather skip the field. Leashed dogs are welcome. Cash and most cards work, though not American Express. The farm stays open in most weather and posts closures on Facebook.
