Sewell's Farm
Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Taneytown, Maryland · Carroll County
A family Christmas tree farm near Taneytown in Carroll County, growing since 1984, with six species to cut in the field plus pre-cut trees and live root-ball trees you can plant after the holidays.
Every tree in the field carries its own price tag, set by the farm according to quality rather than a flat rate. Saws are provided; gas chainsaws are not allowed, though battery-powered saws are fine. Staff bale or wrap your tree for free and help carry it to the car, and string is provided, but you tie it down yourself. The farm does not drill trunks.
The gift store sells ornaments, candles and decorations, along with plain or decorated wreaths and pine or mixed-green roping. Pets are not allowed in the fields. For the smallest crowds, the farm suggests a Thursday or Friday visit. Cards, mobile pay and cash are accepted, but not personal checks.
