Piney Acres Farm

Cut-your-own Christmas trees · Fortville, Indiana · Hancock County

A big family farm in Fortville, northeast of Indianapolis, with u-cut fields of pines, firs and spruces, a pre-cut Fraser fir lot, a holiday farm store and an evening light ride through the trees.

Cut your tree, drag it to the nearest farm lane and a hay wagon brings you and the tree back to the barn, where staff shake it, drill it for your stand if needed, bale it and tie it to your car. Only adults may carry saws, and the farm charges extra if a tree's top is cut, so take the whole tree. Spruces are best cut later in the season.

The pre-cut lot carries Fraser firs up to 12 feet. Inside the farm store you will find free hot cocoa and popcorn, handmade wreaths and swags, ornaments and tree stands, and Santa visits on weekends. Fir prices start higher than the pines, so check the price chart before you head out.
